We’re using an attendance-based DKP system for raid loot. It sounds more complicated than it is. The basic idea is simple: show up, earn DKP, and spend it on the items that matter most to you.
CURRENT DKP TOTALS [LINK] →Reward consistent raid attendance.
Give players control over which items matter most to them.
Avoid Loot Council decisions for highly contested items.
Keep loot simple, transparent, and easy to understand.
Discourage people from stockpiling DKP forever while passing on every normal upgrade.
DKP is primarily earned through attendance and will be added to your total after the raid night ends. We don’t want to be updating spreadsheets while we’re trying to raid.
Our general philosophy is that people who consistently show up should naturally build more purchasing power than someone who rarely attends or has only recently joined the team.
The weekly decay also gives people a reason to actually spend their DKP rather than sitting at the cap forever waiting for one specific item.
On your first raid night, you’ll start with 20 DKP. This gives new players some purchasing power without putting them on equal footing with people who have been consistently raiding for weeks or months.
New raiders cannot spend DKP during their first raid night. You’ll still earn DKP normally that night and can begin bidding starting with your second raid.
Missing a raid without notice simply means you won’t earn DKP for that night. If someone repeatedly no-shows without communicating, leadership may apply additional DKP penalties at their discretion. This should be pretty easy to avoid: just let us know what’s going on.
All DKP totals are tracked on the public DKP sheet [LINK]. Most of it should be automated, but it’s ultimately your responsibility to occasionally check your balance. If something looks off, let us know and we’ll take a look.
Bidding will happen after each boss is killed. Most contested items will use a blind bid: players interested in the item privately whisper the raid’s Loot Master with the amount of DKP they’re willing to spend.
The highest bidder wins the item and pays their bid.
Blind bidding keeps things quick while still letting everyone decide for themselves how much an item is worth to them.
If two or more players submit the same highest blind bid, we’ll have a bid-off between the tied players. The new bid must be higher than the original tied amount, and blind bidding continues between those players until one wins.
Ghost wins the item and spends 50 DKP.
For certain major items, we may use a traditional live auction instead of a blind bid.
We’d probably do these more often if we had unlimited raid time, but with only two hours each night, we don’t want loot distribution slowing everything down.
Very rare items and legendaries will not be distributed through Loot Council. They’ll typically be handled through our live auction system rather than blind bidding.
We’re not planning to add a separate attendance requirement for these items. The DKP system already rewards people who consistently show up, and if someone has enough DKP to win the bidding on a major item, then they’ve earned the ability to do so.
