Mystic Dragons started at the beginning of Dragonflight, when Goguk, Drey, and Hupp put the guild together with a pretty simple goal: get AOTC and have a good time doing it.
Beladrix and Ghost joined not long after, and somewhere along the way we accidentally became a Mythic guild.
Three raids. One accidental Mythic guild.
Drey was our original Raid Leader, and in Vault of the Incarnates we pushed beyond the original AOTC goal and finished 5/8 Mythic.
We even killed Terros with only 19 people, which probably should have been our first warning that we were taking this more seriously than intended.
In Aberrus, we pushed a little further and finished 7/9 Mythic.
By Amirdrassil, Ghost had taken on the mantle, responsibility, punishment, whatever you want to call it, of Raid Leader. We once again finished 7/9 Mythic.
Heading into The War Within, we decided to stop dancing around it and make Cutting Edge the goal.
We came painfully close. After getting some pulls into Queen Ansurek, we decided the better move for the team was to take a break and come back fresh for the next raid rather than burn everyone out trying to force it.
We finally did it.
Cutting Edge.
Toward the end of that tier, Beladrix and Astarael began taking on more of the Raid Lead responsibilities.
With CE finally under our belt, a good chunk of the team decided it was time to pull out of the Mythic grind and get back to what the guild was originally built around: playing together, killing bosses, and getting AOTC without making WoW a second job.
That created two raid teams.
Still a strong result after a pretty major roster shakeup.
Bounced right back and earned Cutting Edge once again.
We’re still rooting them on.
Led by Ghost. Appropriately named.
The Heroic team was built around a simpler approach to raiding, and with the announcement of WoW Forever, we’ve more or less allowed that team to sunset in anticipation of what comes next.
A lot of the same people are now coming together again for Forever, bringing with us several years of raiding, plenty of stupid stories, and hopefully enough experience to know when to take the game seriously and when not to.
And now we’re looking for more people to join us.
